February 1st marks Chinese New Year for 2022! 2022 marks the year of the tiger, symbolising Strength, Power and Prosperity in the Chinese Zodiac. We have a whole host of resources available for Chinese New Year, but we’ve picked out some of our favourites this year, including two new resources that we absolutely love!

Stay tuned as National Storytelling Week starts on the 29th of January and finishes on the 5th of February!

Check out all of our resources based on the works of Julia Donaldson

We LOVE Julia Donaldson and we had so much fun creating resources for the wonderful Superworm last month. These new resources are in addition to a huge selection available to use in the classroom to support her fantastic books – The Gruffalo and Stickman.

Time to Fill Your Bookshelf again as Phil brings us his latest book review

It’s another week and that means it’s time for another Fill Your Bookshelf with Phil. This week, we take a look at ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’, a book from the Brownstone’s Mythical Collection by author Joe Todd-Stanton, published by Flying Eye Books. Phil says:

Arthur and the Golden Rope by Joe Todd-Stanton is another fantastic graphic novel in the Brownstone’s Mythical Collection. Set in the age of the Vikings, it tells the tale of the heroic Arthur and his adventure to overcome a mythical beast. Full of powerful gods and magical objects, this is a gripping story that will engage children of all ages.

As with all books by Joe Todd-Stanton, the illustrations are amazing and full of humour. With lots of references to Viking gods, this book is a great one to use if your class are learning about the Vikings.”

Another glowing review from Phil! We also have another competition to run alongside this week’s book, where you could win yourself a brand new copy of the book. The same rules apply as before – you can enter via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. It’s worth a go, you could be the lucky one who wins! A quick note, we also post a video review each Thursday on our Instagram of every book chosen for Fill Your Bookshelf. The videos are great as we take a look inside the book at some of the fantastic illustrations on offer and it allows you to better visualise the book as it’s described by Phil.
